The gym building has a size of approx. 12.15 x 26.70m. It is dominated by a gable roof with large hipped dormer constructed out of gangnail trusses. Five glulam arches (that are straight in the ridge area) are acting structurally as three-hinged trusses. The centre-to-centre distance is 440mm.
The load-bearing structure of the gym roof includes a lateral bracing at the bottom face of the roof plane, which protects the effective lengths of the glulam arches against buckling out of the plane of the truss and ensures adequate spatial stability of the structural system at the same time. Another function of this bracing consists in transferring load actions of longitudinal wind acting on the roof deck and exterior gables. There are sub-purlins of 180/180-S10 profile set onto the primary beams at 1m centres to support the roof deck layers.
