Dolní Morava Sky Trail

A unique structure called “Sky Trail”, which has no parallel in the Central European region, was erected in Dolní Morava under the massif of Králický Sněžník at an altitude of 1116 metres above sea level. The name itself indicates that it is a scenic trail structure that looms up to 58.5 metres above the surrounding sloping ground, and being visible at a distance of several kilometres, it dominates the ridge of the Slamník Hill . The architectural design comes from the famous Czech architectural atelier of Zdeněk Fránek. Our tasks included preparation of the detailed design and structural analysis as well as the construction itself. The trail structure consists of three towers, which are wound around by the trail footbridge running at a moderate rise up to 53.5m above the ground level. On the way up it is necessary to cover a distance of 750m and a height difference of 38m. The footbridge has been designed to enable all-season access even for families with baby buggies or disabled persons using wheelchairs. Besides amazing views of the surrounding mountains, visitors may get information about the places and history of the Morava river valley from 10 information boards. The trail is ended up with a “droplet” attraction, which is carried by support brackets and protruding some 11 metres above the valley. Besides spectacular views of the entire massif of Kralický Sněžník with the names of each of the mountain tops on the information signages, adventure fans are invited to enjoy sensation of adrenaline in a mesh that is stretched over the open space of the droplet. Fans of adrenaline adventures can crawl through a mesh sleeve that connects two different levels of the footbridge or ride down through a 101-metre stainless slide.
