Chrudim Grandstand

The project includes structural system of the roof with board deck over an area of 10.895m x 65.2m. The roof height is 8.547m. The main load-bearing components are curved glulam beams with purlins place on them. The beams are hinge-connected to the foundation structure by using atypical hinge joint.  The beams are supported approximately in the middle of their length by a pair of posts (S235 steel tubes), which form a “V-shaped post”. The steel posts are anchored via the node to concrete joist that is integrated into the load-bearing structure of the terraces. Spatial stiffness is achieved by steel rod tension members and purlins in the bracing frames and by wooden diagonal braces placed between the beams. The load-bearing structure of the roof is covered up by wooden floorboards and oriented strand boards.
One of the grandstand component parts is a wooden announcer booth having a footprint size of 1.95 x 4.0m and a height of 2.711m.  The structural system is composed of finger jointed squares and both-sided OSB cladding which ensures sufficient rigidity of the system. The announcer booth is anchored to the concrete base of the grandstand terraces.
